Please reach us at amanda@balanced-pt.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Your first visit is a full one-hour, one-on-one session with a licensed physical therapist. We’ll start with a comprehensive evaluation, reviewing your history, current symptoms, movement, strength, and mobility to identify the root cause of your issue. We’ll also discuss your specific goals — whether that’s returning to sport, reducing pain, or improving performance. Treatment begins on day one, including hands-on care, targeted exercises, and a personalized plan to keep you moving forward.
No, you do not need a referral to begin physical therapy.
North Carolina is a direct access state, which means you can schedule an appointment with a licensed physical therapist without seeing your physician first. This allows you to start treatment sooner, address pain or injury early, and begin working toward your goals without unnecessary delays.
If your care requires coordination with another provider, we’re happy to collaborate to ensure you receive the most comprehensive support possible.
We are an out-of-network physical therapy clinic, which means we do not bill insurance directly. This allows us to provide one-on-one, hour-long sessions focused entirely on your care — without the restrictions often placed by insurance companies. We’re happy to provide you with detailed receipts (superbills) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. You can learn more about why we're an out-of-network practice here: https://balanced-pt.com/blog/f/do-you-take-my-insurance

No — you don’t have to be injured to benefit from physical therapy. You don’t only take your car to the mechanic once it breaks down, and your body shouldn’t be any different. Proactive care and routine “maintenance” can identify small issues before they become bigger problems. Whether your goal is to move better, improve performance, build strength, or stay active long term, preventative physical therapy helps reduce injury risk, improve durability, and keep you doing what you love for years to come.
